Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into the top apps in this category for the first quarter of 2021.

Strava: Run, Bike, Hike maintained a strong presence, with downloads starting at around 150K in the last week of December 2020 and peaking at approximately 162K in the first week of January. Weekly active users (WAUs) saw an upward trend from 2.28M to nearly 2.68M by the end of March. Revenue for Strava showed fluctuations but ended on a high note, reaching over 200K in the last week of March.

Freeletics: Fitness Workouts, hailing from Germany, experienced a decrease in downloads from 93K in late December to around 30K by the end of March. WAUs also saw a downward trend, starting at approximately 582K and dipping to 424K. Revenue, however, showed some resilience, with a slight increase in the last weeks of March, closing at nearly 128K.

Fitbit saw a significant drop in downloads from 112K to 39K over the quarter. WAUs remained relatively stable, with a slight decrease from 2.44M to 2.57M. Revenue for Fitbit showed a steady decline, except for a spike in late February, ending at around 85K.

komoot - hike, bike & run witnessed an impressive surge in downloads from 86K to 175K, with a notable spike in late February. WAUs increased from 856K at the start of the period to over 1M by the end of March. Revenue saw a dramatic increase, particularly in the last week of March, reaching over 312K.

Geocaching® showed growth in downloads from 33K to 70K and in WAUs from 108K to 156K. Revenue for the app also increased, ending the quarter at approximately 96K.
